Ses Salines

Between Campos and Santanyi you can find many windmills, which are used for pumping water, and give you a hint of the importance of the agriculture in this region.  Many of the windmills have recently been restored.
Right here, at the south corner of Majorca lies Ses Salines, about 30 miles from the airport.

Famous because of the Es Trenc

It´s not only famous because of its proximity to the longest natural beach of Majorca, but also for its Salines de Llevant, salt works which produce the salt still the traditional way through evaporation of the seawater.

Here you can observe seabirds like seagulls and herons, which have their nests here.

From time to time you can even find flamingos there.

Typical Majorcan flair at its finest

Ses Salines still is a typical Majorcan market town with a nice place and many romantic corners. Doesn´t matter what you at, your eye will notice countlessly many plants on house walls and old wells or you take other lovely glances.

This little town seems half slumbering, half stuck in time .

In short: traditional Majoran air close to the Es Trenc!

Europe´s biggest botanicus is only few steps away

On the way from Ses Salines to Santanyi you´ll find the nicely laid out and Europes biggest Botanicus on the left side.

There you can see, on a generous terrain, the flora of Majorca, as well as many different types of cactuses.

Nicely placed fountains and a coffee shop top the visit to Botanicactus off to a nice little adventure.

There are quite high entry fees though.

Restaurants and shopping in Ses Salines

A small supermarket is situated in the middle of the town and a PROP supermarket can be found behind the town hall.

All other shops, a pharmacy, a bank, a newsagent, a bakery and more are also placed in the town center of Ses Salines.

More favourable shopping opportunities around:

You can find a big Caprabo supermarket in Felanitx which is also open on Sundays and public holidays.

Market day: Thursday
